On February 24, CNOOC
successfully completed the pre-cooling and filling of its D tank at the Jinwan
Green Energy Port Phase II project, marking the successful commissioning of the
world's largest 270,000 cbm LNG storage tank. This tank is the first of its
kind in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Located in Jinwan
District, Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, CNOOC's Jinwan Green Energy Port project
includes a total of five 270,000 cbm LNG storage tanks in its Phase II.
Construction began in June 2021, and the main structure was completed by August
30, 2024. The entire Phase II is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
Phase I of the
project already includes three 160,000 cbm LNG storage tanks, with a receiving
capacity of 3.5 Mtpa. After Phase II is fully operational, the total storage
capacity will reach 1.83 mcm, and the total LNG receiving capacity at the
Zhuhai terminal will increase to 7 Mtpa, equivalent to approximately 10 BCM of
gas in its gaseous state. This is sufficient to meet the annual gas demand of 30
million households and generate approximately 50 billion kWh of electricity.
