According
to the recently issued national economy running statistics from China National
Bureau of Statistics, in March 2024, China’s energy production changed by -4.2%
for coal, 1.2% for oil, 4.5% for natural gas and 2.8% for power generating on a
Y-O-Y basis.
1 Coal Stat.
China’s coal production growth held stable. In March 2024, China’s
coal production was 400 MMt, down 4.2% Y-O-Y. The average daily production was 12.88
MMt. China’s coal import volume was 41.38 MMt, up 0.5% Y-O-Y.
In 2024, China’s coal production accumulated at 1,110
MMt, down 4.1% Y-O-Y. The total import volume of coal accumulated at 120 MMt,
up 13.9% Y-O-Y.
2 Oil Stat.
China’s crude oil production growth held stable. In March 2024,
China’s crude oil production was 18.37 MMt, up 1.2% Y-O-Y. The daily average
production was 593kt. China’s crude oil import volume was 49.05 MMt, down 6.2%
Y-O-Y.
In
2024, China’s crude oil production accumulated 53.48
MMt, up 2.3% Y-O-Y. The total import volume of crude oil
accumulated at 137.36 MMt, up 0.7%
Y-O-Y.
In March 2024, China’s crude oil processing volume was 63.78 MMt,
up 1.3% Y-O-Y.
In
2024, China’s crude oil processing volume accumulated at 182.46
MMt, up 2.4% Y-O-Y.
3 Gas Stat.
China’s natural gas production maintained rapid growth. In March
2024, China’s natural gas production was 21.6 bcm, up 4.5% Y-O-Y. The daily
average production was 0.70 bcm. China’s natural gas import volume was 10.76
MMt, up 22.0% Y-O-Y.
In 2024, China’s natural gas production
accumulated at 63.2 bcm, up
5.2% Y-O-Y. The total import volume of natural gas accumulated at 32.79 MMt, up 22.8% Y-O-Y.
4 Power Stat.
China’s power generating growth held stable. In March 2024,
China’s power generating was 747.7 TWh, up 2.8% Y-O-Y. The daily average power
generating was 24.12 TWh. China’s growth rates of thermal power, wind
power generating, solar power, hydro power and nuclear power generating were
mixed. Therein, China’s thermal/hydro/nuclear/wind/solar power production
growth rate was 0.5%, 3.1%, -4.8%, 16.8% and 15.8% Y-O-Y respectively.
In 2024, China’s power generating accumulated at 2,237.2 TWh, up 6.7% Y-O-Y.
