China’s
PVC powder prices dropped this week. The weekly average price of calcium
carbide-based PVC powder was RMB 4,999/mt, down RMB 55/mt or 1.09% from
January 23.
First,
PVC powder fundamentals weakened as the social inventory piled up notably. Second,
calcium carbide prices moved down, denting the cost support. Most downstream
enterprises have not resumed production, so market transactions were lukewarm.

Forecast
SCI predicts that
China’s PVC powder prices will possibly hover at lows next week, with the price
range of RMB 4,830-5,050/mt. The PVC powder social inventory may pile up
further, weighing on the market price. There may be no new stimulus from the macro
market in the short term.
