April 2, 2025 -
Sinopec’s Southwest Petroleum Bureau announced that it produced over 260 mcm of
natural gas in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 3.8% year-on-year increase.
This growth reflects the bureau’s ongoing efforts to enhance production
efficiency and expand output capacity.
Since the beginning
of the year, the Southwest Petroleum Bureau has focused on value-driven
development to scale up production. It has accelerated the construction of
three major gas production zones in western, southern, and northeastern
Sichuan, each targeting an output of 500 mcm. The bureau has also launched
three key battles: stabilizing production, boosting output, and overcoming
technical challenges, which have contributed to the sustained growth in natural
gas production.
In the first quarter,
the bureau commissioned 20 new wells, adding a daily production capacity of
1.13 mcm. These efforts not only support the bureau’s production targets but
also enhance regional energy security and supply stability.
The increased output
is expected to play a significant role in meeting rising natural gas demand in
southwestern China, supporting local economic development and environmental
goals.
