Highlights

With 46kt/a of newly added capacity in 2023, the total capacity of the PA66 industry reached 817kt/a, which registered a growth rate of 6%, indicating an increase in supply. However, weak demand in the main downstream field of engineering plastics this year resulted in oversupply of PA66. In 2023, due to the oversupply and decreases in feedstock prices, the market price of PA66 showed a weak trend, and the average price in H1 of 2023 decreased by over 30% Y-O-Y. It is estimated that in H2 of 2023, the price of PA66 will hover around the cost line, leaving limited space for further decline, and the price may bottom out by then.  

In the next five years, over 2 million mt of capacity is planned to be added for adiponitrile and hexanediamine, the feedstock of PA66, and the capacity is 3-4 times the existing capacity. The planned new capacity of PA66 is more than 5 million mt/a, 6-7 times the existing capacity. In the future, adiponitrile, hexanediamine and PA66 industries will all be in rapid development. This will bring opportunities for corporate growth but also many challenges.
