PVC downstream product export orders remained tepid. In Q4, export orders may go
up notably.
PVC floor
covering:
From January to September 2024, the total export volume of PVC floor products
was 3,510.4kt, up 4.49% YoY. The main export destinations were the U.S., Canada,
Germany, Netherlands and Australia. Affected by regional consumption concepts, China’s
domestic floor products are mainly exported to developed countries in Europe
and the United States. Entering 2024, with the relocation of a large number of
flooring enterprises coming to an end and the weakening of origin traceability
in the U.S., China’s floor product orders began to stabilize. In H2 September,
affected by Christmas, China’s export orders increased. In October, PVC floor
product enterprises raised operating rates. A couple of PVC floor products will
possibly be delivered in November, propping up the export volume this month.
PVC pipe: From
January to September 2024, the total export volume of PVC pipe was 116.7kt, up 15.36%
YoY. The main export destinations were Hong Kong of China, the U.S., Myanmar, Thailand,
and Laos. At present, pipe products are still dominated by China’s domestic
trade, and exports account for relatively little. Restricted by the soft China’s
real estate market, China’s PVC pipe enterprises showed low production enthusiasm.
PVC
special-shaped profile: From January to September 2024, the total
export volume of PVC special-shaped profile was 95.2kt, up 11.95% YoY. The main
export destinations were India, Guatemala,
Thailand, the U.S., and Indonesia. It is understood that export-oriented
profile enterprises have decent orders, but there is also a certain reduction
from last year, and the monthly average operating rate is 70%-80%. Domestic
trade-oriented profile enterprises hold operating rates relatively low.
PVC plate,
sheet, film, foil, and fillet: From January to September 2024, the
total export volume of PVC plate, sheet, film, foil, and fillet was 431.8kt, up
29.64% YoY. Vietnam, India, the U.S., and Mexico were the main export
destinations. According to the trend of demand changes in previous years, the
fourth quarter registers the export peak season. PVC hard and decorative sheet enterprises
raised operating rates mainly affected by the Christmas holiday.
In
Q4, export orders of PVC floor products, PVC plate, sheet, film, foil, and
fillet products are expected to increase.
