On April
24th, the first phase expansion project of the China National Offshore Oil
Corporation (CNOOC) Yancheng receiving terminal - a set of six LNG storage
tanks with the world's largest single tank capacity of 270,000 m3, has
completed the perlite filling construction work. This marks the completion of
the main construction of the first batch of 270,000 m3 LNG storage tanks in China.
The project is expected to be completed and put into operation within 2024, and
when it is, the receiving terminal's capacity will reach 6 Mtpa.
The CNOOC
Yancheng project, located in the Bin Hai Port Industrial Park of Yancheng City,
Jiangsu Province, is currently the largest LNG reserve base in China. The
project is not only capable of receiving, storing, and exporting liquefied
natural gas, but it also integrates functions such as cold energy utilization,
gas power generation, and gas-based hydrogen production.
The first
phase of the project was put into operation in September 2022, with a receiving
terminal capacity of 3 Mtpa. It includes the construction of four 220,000 m3
storage tanks. In 2023, the LNG unloading volume was 2.9 million tons, which is
nearly 4.1 billion m3 of natural gas.
