On April 13, the BEIDOU STAR, carrying 78,000 mt of LNG, arrived at the Huizhou
LNG Receiving Terminal and completed its unloading. This milestone marks the
official commencement of the long-term international LNG cooperation agreement
between Guangdong Energy Group (GEG) and ExxonMobil Asia Pacific LNG Co., Ltd.,
with this shipment sourced from Papua New Guinea.
The Huizhou LNG
Receiving Terminal, a key energy project in Guangdong Province, officially
began operations in September 2024. Its Phase I infrastructure includes three
200,000 cbm LNG storage tanks and related facilities, with a receiving capacity
of 4 MMtpa.
Phase
II of the project plans to expand with three additional 270,000 cbm storage
tanks, raising the terminal’s maximum receiving capacity to 7.45 MMtpa. In the
long term, the terminal is poised to become a 10-MMt-level LNG storage hub.
Additionally, it will provide critical energy and raw material support for
Huizhou’s key industrial projects, advancing the city’s development of a green,
low-carbon industrial ecosystem.
