Jiangsu's 4th LNG Terminal Takes Shape with Phase II Construction

Phase of the Jiangsu Guoxin LNG Receiving Terminal Wharf Project commenced construction in Oct, 2024, marking a significant step forward in the development of the 4th LNG terminal along the Jiangsu coast. According to an announcement by the China Maritime Safety Administration, the project is expected to be completed by October 2025.

The Guoxin LNG project, based in Rudong, Jiangsu, has a total investment of approximately 7.5 billion and is implemented in two phases.

The currently under-construction Phase will build one LNG storage tank and one 150kt LNG wharf, with an anticipated annual throughput capacity of 6 Mtpa. The Phase , known as the Jiangsu Province LNG Storage and Transportation Peak Shaving Project, involved the construction of 3 * 200,000 cbm LNG storage tanks, with a designed annual unloading and turnover capacity of 2.95 Mtpa. It began construction in November 2020 and is now essentially complete.

Upon the full completion of both phases, the total tank capacity will reach 800,000 cbm, with a maximum gas storage capacity of 480 million cbm and a maximum daily gas supply capacity of 60 million cbm, sufficient to ensure the gas supply for three days across the province.

Guoxin Group, a large state-owned enterprise in Jiangsu Province, has a business scope covering energy, finance, emerging industries, etc. The group owns 2.6 GW of gas-fired power generation units in province and is also involved in city gas, pipeline construction, and other natural gas-related businesses.
