On February 16, 2025,
the East Section (Hubei-Henan-Jiangxi-Anhui-Zhejiang-Fujian Section) of the
Sichuan Gas Eastward Transmission Line II, managed by the PipeChina Group,
entered a phase of accelerated construction. This project is crucial for
developing China's “4 Strategic Corridors + 5 North-South and 5 East-West”
natural gas backbone pipeline network and achieving flexible resource
allocation within the region. The entire project is expected to be fully
operational by 2027.
The Sichuan Gas
Eastward Transmission Line II spans 4,269 KM, with a designed annual gas
transmission capacity of 14 BCM. It passes through eight provinces and
municipalities, including Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Henan, Jiangxi, Anhui,
Zhejiang, and Fujian. The pipeline is being constructed in two phases: the West
Section and the East Section. Once fully operational, the pipeline system will
have an annual gas transmission capacity of 26 BCM, ensuring smooth export of
natural gas from the Sichuan Basin and addressing peak-shaving demands in the
central and eastern regions.
The East Section,
with a total length of 2,698 kilometers, includes one main line, two connecting
lines, and three branch lines. It will supply natural gas to six provinces:
Hubei, Anhui, Henan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, and Fujian. The West Section, which
began construction in September 2023, has completed over 70% of its first
phase.
Since the 14th
Five-Year Plan period began, PipeChina Group has accelerated the construction
of oil and gas pipeline infrastructure. In 2025, it is expected to complete
over 2,000 KM of new pipelines, adding a transmission capacity of 25 BCM, thus
achieving the 14th Five-Year Plan target of 16,500 KM.
