Highlights

2022 was a year of upgrading the game between supply and demand in China’s EVA industry. This year, capacity expansion accelerated, and demand once again showed explosive growth, driven by the new energy industry. The game between supply and demand ran through the year, and EVA price became the most intuitive manifestation of this power contest. In 2022, the EVA price performed better than expected. In H1, the newly added capacity at Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical and Sinopec Zhongke (Guangdong) Refinery was released concentratedly. Besides, Levima Group also expanded its capacity at this time. The EVA market price rose against the trend, which was far beyond players’ expectations. In the middle of this year, EVA prices were still resilient even in the slack season for demand, with the time and space for price adjustments much lower than expected. Players have more expectations for the market as the peak demand season will come in September and October. 2022 was the year of deepening the "14th Five-Year Plan", and it was also a critical period for the transformation of the EVA industry. New enterprises, new products, and new sales models were all driving changes in the EVA supply pattern. On the demand side, the strong demand potential of the new energy industry promoted the reshaping of the EVA demand structure.
